today it snowed, and i mean really snowed and stuck. it's still stuck. the ground outside is covered with the dirty white of it. people here feel the need to sieze the day and build snowmen, make 'snow'/mud angels, and throw hard-packed snowballs at strangers (my left shoulder can attest to that), as if the next four months wont cover us in it.
so i hauled out my mittens and scarf and let myself pick up a new hat and prepared myself for the long burial. getting ready for the deep freeze.
and although it is going to last too long, and i will miss the songbirds and the color green and the smell of dark brown michigan dirt and old moss, i am looking forward to the winter to really get on with it.
i hate these inbetween seasons. wet and cold- snow melts in your eyeball when you look up to see it. shoes filled with brown slush and frozen toes. i just wish the weather would make up it's mind. i hate grey areas- early spring, late fall, whether im right about wanting to hit you in the mouth...
