we kissed in the kitchen. you smiled and put your forehead to mine. happily. without reservation. i put my nose against the smell of your black t-shirt and clean skin beneath. sighed. breathed deeply. your skin was warm to the touch; your cheek pressed against mine. i waved you goodbye until the end of the street. snow spun from beneath your tires. i caught your kiss through the glass. you turned the corner and disappeared into a voice over the telephone. we spoke over wires and i held the sounds to my ear. eagerly. without trepidation. your smile is everything in the moment. may it come home with you soon.
